Kitah Bet - Second Grade
Lifestyles, Traditions and Rituals

Students will be exposed to some of the most common Jewish traditions. They will explore how these traditions are still practiced and how they have been adapted to fit alternative Jewish lifestyles. Kitah Bet students will look at the traditional Jewish environments (shul, synagogue, mikveh, kosher restaurants, kosher kitchens, etc.) and consider traditional Jewish professions (rabbi, cantor, mohel, shochet, sofer, etc.). Kitah Bet will explore how Jews use blessings and the students will have the opportunity to experiment writing, saying, or illustrating their own expressions of Jewish identity. The Jewish holidays will be examined in the context of the four seasons, environmentalism, and the Jewish calendar.
