Emerging from a Time of Release, Coming out of Shmita
A new year begins. With it, new realities have taken shape. We emerge from a shmita year - where we were invited into the value of release. Over and over again we were invited in. Sometimes this invitation might have been welcome - to give up control where we have held on too long, to let go of harmful patterns or ego getting in the way of deeper connection. Or perhaps release of needing to see ourselves, as individuals, communities, or species, as the center or chosen one in the narrative of our lives. We might have grown expansive. And we may have learned to trust more. To rely on that which is beyond our control: to let the land lay fallow and be amazed that what would sustain us and still grow.
And still, while we were given opportunities for release, some things were taken from us. Policy, adjudication and vigilantism have attempted to make us fearful and strip us bare, to tare away at our agency and our resiliency. Thankfully we have each other in the face of this. And thankfully, we have a season and a tradition that can align our feelings of being stripped bare with a spiritual journey we move through together.
Join Kadima for this journey to conclude a season of release and begin again to gain a hold and move forward intentionally. We together may find the strength and the wisdom to experience this moment not just together, but surrounded by our ancestors and descendants. As we emerge from shmita together, let us plant, let us grow, let us be artful and intentional about what seeds we sow for what this new 7-year cycle may bring, and what we shall bring to it. Begin the new cycle with Kadima these High Holidays both in person and online.
