And it might be a good time to believe, hope, recognize, or acknowledge that there maybe are angels among us, supporting us and giving us added strength and resilience.
Jacob uses a stone for a pillow and has a dream. In the dream, angels are traveling up – and down – a ladder connecting the heavens and the earth.
But maybe especially in Gregorian December, it is helpful to remember that the Hebrew word often translated as “angel” actually means “messenger.” Someone or something that has a message from the divine parts of ourselves and the world.
In this season, as Kislev begins and we head into the quiet, beautiful, still darkness, it is good to listen to what our divine parts might be trying to tell us. To give the messenger, and their message, our openness and focused attention. What might we experience? What might we be reminded of? What truths might need facing?
Whatever they are, may we recognize and rely on those around us who keep us connected to our most resilient truths.
Shabbat shalom,
R’ David
