Are you High Holiday-ing from home?
You might consider...
- preparing some sacred space around your computer (maybe put down a tablecloth, some flowers, add a footrest under the table for some support, or move to a different spot)
- covering up all other screens
- gathering some sweet smelling spices to keep nearby to smell + remind you of your senses
- weather permitting, travel around your block as though you are traveling to synagogue and re-enter your home to settle in for services
- having a sweet treat ready for you to enjoy as you welcome in the new year
- keeping a journal, some writing implements, or art making supplies nearby
- lighting candles alongside us when we light candles
- doing laundry / dishes before the holiday so you don't need to do it during the holiday (or stuff them out of sight!)
- make some homemade new year's art with your housemates and/or family and hang it on the walls
- give yourself a new year's hair trim or buzz
- prep some food with the whole holiday in mind - give yourself a break from thinking about or having to prep all your food on the holiday itself
- call or text an old friend or family member to wish them a happy new year or just make contact
